Only minimal spelling or punctuation corrections were made. Unreadable areas are shown by underlines, dots &/or question marks. This collection has been scanned, “optical character recognized” (OCR’d), proofed, then coded for HTML by volunteers of the Crawford County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society. A Former Citizen of This Place Dies at his Home in Indiana.
Last Tuesday word was received at this place that Death had chosen a victim in the person of Wm. Platt, at his home in Nappanee, Ind. Mr. Pratt was formerly a citizen of this place, but moved to Nappanee about a dozen years ago. Through his energy and enterprise he gained greatly in favor among the older residents who greatly deplore his demise. He erected a number of buildings, among which is our present planing mill which he operated a number of years.
The history of Mr. Platt reveals a great deal of the early history of New Washington. We may be able to give his obituary next week.
