The applicant must be a direct descendant, or a collateral relative, of any person who served in the Civil War, for the Union or the Confederacy, to be eligible to become a member of the Civil War Families of Crawford County, Ohio. In addition to serving in the Civil War, the person must have lived or died in Crawford County, Ohio. `Squirrel Hunters’ and `Spies’, male or female, are also eligible. Each application will be judged on its own merits. You must submit an application and the documents that will prove the relationship. There must be documentation for each generation, including yours, your parents, grandparents, etc. The application fee is $10.00, to be paid when you send in your application and accompanying documents. A Civil War Families certificate and pin will be awarded to successful applicants.

Applications for Civil War Families will be evaluated by the lineage society chairperson and then by the Crawford County Ohio Genealogical Society’s Board of Trustees.
