Linda Collins, Chair of the Civil War & the 1850 Pioneer Families Lineage Societies of the Crawford County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society has announced two new members!
Cindy Peterson was awarded the Civil War Ancestor certificate.
Laura Harper was awarded the 1850 Pioneer Families certificate.
Laura proved eleven ancestors in Crawford County before the end of 1850.
Her ancestors are: Conrad Zeiter who came in 1839 and is on the 1840 US Census in Chatfield; his son, John Zeiter and wife, Margaretha Schirm, are with Conrad on the 1850 US Census in Chatfield.
John Zeiter’s wife, Mary Kieffer was born in 1841 in Lykens, and her father Daniel Kieffer and wife Barbara Brinebaugh (perhaps her last name was Briedenbaugh) were married in 1840 in Crawford County.
Margaret Geiger was born in 1844 in Chatfield, and her father, Peter Geiger is on a deed in Crawford County in 1841. They are both in Chatfield in the 1850 census. Peter’s wife, Anna Maria Riedel, died in 1849 and is buried in the Old Chatfield Cemetery. Anna Maria’s father, George Jacob Riedel, also died in 1849 and is buried in the Old Chatfield Cemetery. Anna Maria’s mother, Margaretha Hauss, appears on the 1850 US Census in Chatfield.
