Family Researchers will still find this list useful!

As of March 1975 Crawford County Ohio’s Probate Court had these records

In March 1975, Dorothy Fischer from the Office of the Crawford County Probate Court spoke to us about the available records. Here is some of the valuable information she gave:

Probate records start 1831 — some wills dated in 1820’s.

Marriages start 1831.

Wills are double indexed.

There are four volumes for estates.

1867 to Dec. 20, 1908 — Tax assessor went to farms and dwellings in city for births and deaths –very inaccuate.

Application to Probate Will — contains names of relatives — look for will first — then application — with witnesses.

As a last resort – check real estate proceedings — lists all heirs who are selling — not a transfer of real estate.

Please contact the office of Probate Court prior to visiting to make sure the above information is still correct.
